Two of the Original Weekend Hippies Walt Frese and his lovely wife Wendy dropped by our show at Tahoe this last weekend. They among others were the inspiration for Tahoe City Blues, one of my first songs in 1975 I think. They arrived in their fishing boat leaving their sailboat at home. Also there from this era the amazing Russ Hanson who is a hell of a guitarist himself.

Mark Chrisler brought the band to historic Chamber's Landing for a Sat. Labor Day concert. We played in the boat house bar on the pier out  over beautiful Lake Tahoe. More that 200 people were drinking, dancing, and listening (in that order) to our show and we got lots of great feedback. Look for another show there Memorial Day weekend 2015. Bartenders said it was the best show of the summer!!! Photo Credit: Ernest Rusu-Carp

PictureOpening for Laney Lou and the Birdogs , Four Corners outside Bozeman, MT. What a cool band...young and plenty talented. Joined them for a couple tunes as well. They wanted permission to cover Good Old Fashioned Modern Day Mountain Man which I happily granted.

Band members below are Lena Schiffer guitar and vocals, Ethan Demarais, bass, Matt Demarais, banjo, and Brian Kassay, fiddle. Google the band name and check them out.Its hard to get a photo of Brian because he is always dancing around but I have a better picture coming shortly.

We rocked The Torch Club last night (Feb. 11). We were the main attraction at a band showcase and we had a full house waiting for something special. Most of the comments I received said they got that and more. Feeling good about all the hard work we put in so that we can meet the standards of the better clubs. Special thanks to band members Brad Brubaker (Drums) and Troy Vorse (Lead Guitar and Bass).

Recent Shows at 2022 in Oakland

Picture

The shows at 2022 Restaurant and Lounge in Oakland went really well. It was a great venue for singer- songwriter type music because everyone there was really close to the music.  Both shows had a full house and I must admit we delivered the goods. I gave it my all emotionally and I even tried some new twists to a few songs...not structural changes but more embellishments with the vocals.  Bob Eisenman played sax on a bunch of songs with me on both nights and he was very polished, soulful, and very comfortable even with my occaisonal wanderings from our charts! Bob is a veteran jazz and pop player and he really made each show! We rehearsed at the historic Berkeley Tennis Club Ballroom which has a big stage and lots of old redwood walls for amazing acoustics. We will do some more rehearsals there in the next few weeks adding perhaps two recording artists to sing vocals with me. The exciting thing is that both of them are also songwriters so I look forward to hopefully adding their songs to future shows.

By the way, many thanks  to my friend Elizabeth Opalenik for her photos of the show. Make sure you visit her website listed below. Elizabeth is one the world's masters at "mordancage", a very specialized and beautiful type of photography.

Mark is interested in performing locally if the venue is right. It must have a good, properly tuned piano and a decent PA system. His shows work best in a venue where people can hear the music. He has played enough loud nightclubs in his time. If you are a club or restaurant manager please go to the contact page and we will get back to you shortly. Mark also plays private parties and charity events.
