Bio
Mark Chrisler is a long time Berkeley singer-songwriter who now lives back in his hometown of Sacramento. Mark has been winning over audiences of all ages for many years with his straight forward emotional songs. Lost loves, raising children, friends, even dogs, it's all there. He's got plenty of stage presence and a big smooth vocal talent that gets your attention right away. Whether he is telling a story, cracking a joke between songs, playing guitar and piano, or pulling out his trusty harmonica for accompaniment, Mark is an entertainer whose two hour, all original song concerts have been crowd pleasers throughout the US. He has played Folk City in New York, performed in countless small clubs, bars, and restaurants in the West and in the Bay Area including The Claremont Hotel, the former Temescal Cafe (now the Mixing Bowl) and 2022 Lounge in Oakland.
In Sacramento he has performed at The Starlite Lounge, Luna's Cafe, Dono De Cielo Winery, The Torch Club and the Blue Lamp. He has also played the Celebrity Showroom at John Ascuaga's Nugget in Reno, Nevada.
Who is this guy and how come I have never heard of him? Known to only a small group of enthusiasts in a handful of towns and cities, Mark has led quite the normal life. Grew up in Sacramento, went to Cal, worked in the financial services industry for 25 years, all the while writing songs and performing occasional shows in small venues. Lately his shows feature a band with drums, bass, and guitars so you get a fuller sound and lots of good ole rock and roll which is a nice complement to the singer songwriter material he is known for. He will start a show with some solo acoustic guitar or piano and sing a few songs like the old days. Then the band comes out and the songs get a little more up tempo and then they usually play flat out loud blues and rock that leaves the fans happy with ears ringing just a bit.
Family was always his first priority. Married for more than 30 years, Mark and his lovely wife Ann raised two incredible daughters. He has a wide circle of friends from work, music, tennis and of course fly fishing that give his life more than his share of happiness. Still there is a lot of pain in his music so I guess nothing is ever as it seems all the time. He has never really gotten around to the commercial elements of his music, but many professionals in the business have urged Mark to get his songs out there so now he is doing just that. The music is hard to characterize but it has folk, pop, country, and even a few jazz influences. He has probably forgotten as many songs as he remembers after all these years but all of his work is copyrighted. Hopefully some of his songs will end up in movies or being performed by other artists. Mark now spends a portion of his days submitting music to industry buyers.
